That will tpose your character on the first frame.Ģ. If not just go to the POSE directory and find a tpose and click on it. Hi moogaloonie, Here is the workflow I use with poser/truespace.ġ. Mocap than TS is? I hope that makes my question more So JH, are you saying that Poser is better for working with Then import it in to Truespace, grab out the ANIM CLIP from it, drop the ANIM CLIP on your characters skeleton in the timeline and you just saved tons of work. You can create all kinds of different walk cycles on a character instantly then throw on a couple bvh motions you got off the web then do some keyframing then export that as one bvh file. But also as I mentioned Poser has an awesome walk designer.

SO, you can then just grab the anim clip out of that exported bvh file and use that instead of having to re insert another bvh skeleton in your character and attach skin etc. What I love is poser is smart and will take bvh files in that may have slightly different named bone structures and export them always the same named bone structure. You can grab the ANIM CLIPS out of those bvh skeletons and re use them on your same characters skeleton. If you only use the same named structured bvh files (like all truebones files have the same naming structure) then you dont need to worry. IF you bring in bvh motion files from different places (or when bones are named differently) you will have to put in that new bvh skeleton in your character and attach skin to skeleton etc each time you change motion files. I love additive blend modes, pass throughs, etc. Truespace blends and works with motions awesomely. Is better than TS for bvh motion editing I take it. If you have questions relating to this topic let me know:jumpy: Just makes things like this easier and consistent. So if you take in a bvh file from lets say and do all kinds of stuff to it in poser, it will export in a bvh file that conforms to posers bvh format. Because poser imports a bvh file and re does it to their standard bvh format when you export it. Poser was created to make all motion stuff as easy as possible.

Maya is horrible (in my opinion) at anything to do with BVH motion workflow (Max is great of course because of its Character studio). Never mentioned Maya was supreme as your comment suggests. No pushing or promoting any other softwares of course. I use what does what I need for a specific task.

No tyler, In my opionion no software is supreme over another. Then exported to Truespace and grabbed the "ANIM CLIP" out of the bvh file and dropped it on my characters anim timeline. I then imported a gremlinwalking.bvh clip in to Poser. Quick animation below is just a quick walk cycle created in Posers walk cycle creator (which does a million things). I will make a Tutorial on how easy and super powerful it all is :jumpy:

Just want to let people know that if you have Poser 6, 7, or Poser Pro you can do incredible bvh motion stuff for Truespace. All of that (walk cycles, bvh's, key framing) exports as a BVH for your Truespace. And of course Poser has stunning WALK CYCLE creators etc. Blending complex BVH animations in Poser is the ultimate breeze. Just bring the any bvh motion file in to poser and do whatever you want and export it to Truespace and grab the anim clip (RSClip) out of it. That means that character now will accept just about any character type bvh clip anywhere on the web. Just grab the rsclip/ anim clip out of the bvh skeleton and drop it in your timeline. SO! You do not have to attach another skeleton on your character everytime you want to bring in another bvh from Poser. But thats not the really really cool part! Once you have exported that bvh skeleton from Poser to Truespace and put it in your character THEN all future bvh's you export from Poser to Truespace for that character YOU JUST GRAB THE "ANIM CLIP" from that imported BVH you just imported from Poser.

Poser miraculously will import just about ANY BVH file in and configure it to its standard (not even EXPENSIVE autodesk motionbuilder can do that, which I took a course in). Any of hundreds of bvh clips work great in Poser PLUS!!! any of the hundreds or thousands of BVH clips that you can find on the web. THEN drop that SKELETON in to your Truespace figure. Then you can do all kinds of bvh blending and walk cycling and keyframing in Poser then EXPORT that "BVH SKELETON" from Poser to Truespace. Poser will bring in ANY character bvh file(s) from anywhere on to their poser characters. I have used Poser since version 4 just for BVH stuff. Poser 6, 7 and Pro are the most incredible "BVH" MOTION animation editors I have ever found.
